Scrutiny

Scrutiny committees are made up of 'backbench' councillors and they cover the range of Council functions. They monitor the work of Council departments and carry out investigations into matters of interest. They usually take evidence in writing and in public from members of the Cabinet, officials, residents, interested groups and experts.
